Haniya Minhas creates history for Pakistan by qualifying for semi-finals at Orange Bowl

  


Haniya Minhas becomes one of the most skilled players after qualifying for semi-finals at the Orange Bowl Tennis Championship. This comes as a pride and milestone victory for Pakistan and BARD Foundation to witness Haniya at her best in one of the most challenging international tournaments. Haniya’s training and sports activities have been supported by the ‘Bilquis & Abdul Razak Dawood' (BARD) Foundation, since she was only 9 years of age.

Prior to securing her spot in the semi-finals at Orange Bowl, over 2000 players participated at Eddie Herr Junior Championship where Haniya Minhas secured a bronze for Pakistan among 90 countries. Haniya joined IMG for training on 22 August 2022 that was followed by a continuous series of remarkable successes at Little Mo International Championship in New York, USA, USTA National under 14 Tennis Championship in Florida, L5 Under 16 National Tennis Championship in the United States, Under 14 National Tennis Championships in Coral Springs, Florida and USTA Under 16 Girls National Championship Final in Florida, USA.

Expressing her delight on successive remarkable performances in the most challenging tournaments, Haniya said, “These series of successes have filled me with gratitude and even higher passion to continue playing to the best of my abilities.”

Mehreen Dawood – Pakistan’s leading philanthropist and founder of the BARD Foundation, appreciated Haniya’s success, saying that: “It is a great honour for Pakistan and the BARD Foundation that such a breakthrough had been made by a Pakistani girl. Haniya’s triumph will prove to be an inspiration for other players, especially young girls, and serve as a motivating factor for upcoming players.”
